Orange Moon Saturday, October 31, 2026 "Personal"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

“Personal”

“I AM” declares our Lord to us in His Word.  “He is” we respond in doctrine and principle.  “You are” we express to Him in personal terms.

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you” (Exodus 3:14).

“He is the Lord our God” (I Chronicles 16:14).

“Thou art the Lord my God” (Jeremiah 31:18).

The principle, vital and necessary, must become the personal in order to know God as He desires to be known.  When an “I am” and a “He is” becomes our expressed “You are,” things occur in our heart for which we were made.  Things also doubtless occur in our Heavenly Father, who so loves human spirits that He gave His beloved Son to hang on the cross of Calvary so that He might give the Holy Spirit to dwell within our hearts.  “The Spirit of God dwelleth in you” (I Corinthians 3:16).  Believing the truths of the Bible serves as the gilded pathway whereupon we approach our Lord to personally communion with Him in the fellowship for which He redeemed us.  The Lord Jesus Christ confirmed such blessed grace and truth...

“This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent” (John 17:3).

The knowing of which our Savior speaks (translated from the Greek word “ginosko”) involves more than a mere cursory understanding.  It rather speaks of a deep and close knowledge, as in personal relationship.  Certainly God made us to understand His truth intelligently and factually.  However, if our knowing does not precede to the “You are” of prayerfully and personally relating to Him by faith, we have minimized the very purpose of our existence.  Little wonder the Apostle Paul calls us to “pray without ceasing,” that is, to live in the atmosphere and attitude of prayer whereby in any moment believers can commune with our Father that so pleases His heart by the expression to Him of our hearts.  “The prayer of the upright is His delight” (I Thessalonians 5:17, Proverbs 15:8).

Remembering the price of the personal, that is, the suffering, forsakenness, and death of the Lord Jesus on the cross, encourages us to avail ourselves of the enormity of grace He purchased for us.  God loves our hearts so dearly He gave the heart of His eternally beloved Son to a sorrow we will never understand.  We can, however, avail ourselves of the the gift it bestows, namely, living and personal fellowship with God.  He will be satisfied with nothing less in our walk with Him.  Nor should we.

“In Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.”

(Psalm 16:11)

Weekly Memory Verse

We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

(II Corinthians 4:7)
