The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe
"The God of Peace"
If we could physically see our Lord, never would we find Him with a furrowed brow of worry, or wringing His hands in frustration, or breathless in anxiety. We would rather behold a countenance of peace, assurance, calm, and clear evidence that He knows who He is and what He can do.
"The God of peace be with you all" (Romans 15:33).
The scene would greatly impact our heart and sensibilities, especially as born again believers who have committed the well being of both time and eternity to God. The Apostle Paul conveyed to the Roman believers the realization and remembrance of the Lord's presence, which must be known by faith. Presently, we must spiritually see the unfurrowed brow, the confident hands, and the measured breath of our Lord as He works in full knowledge of His perfect ability to be and to do. Yes, God is God, and He knows it. "I am the Lord, there is none else. There is no God beside Me" (Isaiah 45:5). God is also able, and He knows it. "I am the almighty God" (Genesis 17:1). So long as His being, ability, and awareness thereof abides, we can and must know the God of peace as the basis and source of our peace.
Let us gaze by faith into Heaven and view the scene of peace that surrounds the throne of the Lord Jesus Christ, our "Prince of peace" (Isaiah 9:6). Opening the pages of the Scriptures offers our clearest observation at present. God's Word assures us of who He is and what He can do. "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). Moreover, the Bible bears witness to our Lord's complete confidence in His being and ability. So long as the unfurrowed brow, the measured breath, and the confident hands abide, assurance will be available and offered to trusting hearts by the God of peace who supremely knows who He is and what He can do.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:6-7)
Weekly Memory Verse
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men, for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
(I Timothy 2:1-2).
