Orange Moon Wednesday, September 16, 2026 "Known Unto God"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

“Known Unto God”

We have no frame of reference for a being with perfect foreknowledge.

“His understanding is infinite…. Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world” (Psalm 147:5; Acts 15:18).

The truth raises more questions than it provides answers about our Lord and how He thinks, perceives, acts, and reacts to the happenings of the creation He made.  Theologians, philosophers, and believers of all walks of life have long pondered the mystery, yielding some light and insight into the infinity of God’s transcendent knowledge.  Centuries of such pursuit, however, have yielded relatively few satisfactory insights into the wonder of One who stated the matter with the keenest succinctness:

“My thoughts are not your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8).

No, they are not, Lord.  How grateful we are that such is the case!  We actually require only a small measure of understanding to benefit from the most glorious implication of “Known unto God.”  Namely, He is perfectly, completely, and powerfully prepared for any and everything that comes our way.  No contingency will ever catch Him by surprise regarding the care of His creation.  He will never think or utter, “Uhoh!”  We may not fathom His doings that proceed from His knowledge.  As with His thoughts, He also declared, “My ways are not your ways.”  However, we can take comfort in the wonder that the One to whom we have committed our care for both time and eternity sees our tomorrows with no less clarity than our todays.  God is ready for all.  He will act perfectly in all matters to fulfill “the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ephesians 3:11).

Let us take heart in such truth, trusting our Heavenly Father’s heart, even as minds can never completely wrap around the boundless splendor of His thinking and thought.  Certainly, we seek as much understanding as possible, as led by the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures, insights of fellow believers, and even that which God reveals in His creation (Proverbs 4:7; John 16:13; II Timothy 3:15; I Thessalonians 5:11; Romans 1:20).  Never, however, do we fail to perceive the boundaries that exist regarding the heart and mind of God.  We can know some.  We can know more.  But we can never know all.  Few truths more confirm such truth about ourselves, based on our Father, than the truth of “Known unto God.”  Here we rest our hearts, even as our minds fall back into an absolutely proper bewilderment that actually illuminates us as much as whatever understanding we can gather.  Yes, it tells us, as my dear brother and friend Wayne from Mississippi says, “God is God.  And we ain’t!”

“Thou art God alone.”

(Psalm 86:10)

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!

(Romans 11:33)

Weekly Memory Verse

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

(Revelation 21:4)
