"The Governing Truth"

Frances and I seek to direct our life and ministry by the governing truth that "No one has ever trusted the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and been disappointed for doing so.  And no one ever will."

"The Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed" (Romans 10:11).

God is perfectly faithful.  He cannot lie.  His Word is true from the first verse of Genesis to the last of Revelation.  He always acts according to His righteous character and nature.  His devotion to truth is so complete that at the highest cost and sacrifice to Himself,  He kept His promises (beginning in Eden) to send His beloved Son into the world to save us from our sins (I Corinthians 1:9; Titus 1:2; John 17:17; Psalm 119:68; Genesis 3:15; John 3:16).  Yes, One exists who can and must be trusted "with all thy heart" because His heart is all faithful and true (Proverbs 3:5).

It is pure joy to bear witness to so good and glorious a God.  Every human heart desperately needs to either discover or grow in the knowledge of His trustworthiness.  Whether in happy blessedness, challenging trial, or the everyday moments of life, God's faithfulness awaits us with promises that cannot be broken.  The Lord whose very being is truth beckons to every heart with the promise that "He that believeth on Him shall not be confounded" (I Peter 2:6).  "I am the truth" declared the Lord Jesus, revealing how completely He can be trusted, and how certain we be that ever and always, "Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds" (John 14:6; Psalm 36:5).  Yes, God's perfect essence of character and nature guarantees His perfect expression of Himself and His truth.

"He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He" (Deuteronomy 32:4).

No one has ever trusted the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and been disappointed for doing so.  No one ever will.  May the truth ring within our hearts, illuminate our minds, grace our lips, and shine forth in our lives.  The God who cannot lie calls us to believe Him without reserve.  What else can we do in response to such faithfulness and integrity?  Indeed, the Lord Jesus bears wounds on the hands, feet, and side of His glorified body to tell us that at all costs God forever keeps His Word.  Yes, pure joy accompanies remembrance, affirmation, confession, and the determination to live in the blessed wonder and governing truth that no one has ever trusted the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and been disappointed for doing so.  And no one ever will.

"And I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True."

(Revelation 19:11)

Weekly Memory Verse

We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
