Orange Moon Tuesday, December 12, 2023 "The Worker In Progress"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"The Worker In Progress"

"We cooperate with God's working by seeking to better know the Lord Jesus, and to more realize His Person and work on our behalf.  Regardless of where we may be along the path of righteousness, our Heavenly Father faithfully abides in His purpose to make us like His Son."

We are "works in progress" as born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, ever acted upon by a Worker faithful to His purpose and task.

"He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.  For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren" (Romans 8:29).

God finishes what He starts.  Every believer will ultimately be like the Lord Jesus in character, nature, and way.  We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is" (I John 3:2).  Note the dynamic means referenced by the Apostle John.  Seeing the Lord Jesus "as He is" will perfect the work of our being "like Him."  This correlates with the process in our current lives:

"Beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, we are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (II Corinthians 3:18).

We cooperate with God's working by seeking to better know the Lord Jesus, and to more realize His Person and work on our behalf.  Regardless of where we may be along the path of righteousness, our Heavenly Father faithfully abides in His purpose to make us like His Son.  Be it the most godly believer, or the one most felled by unbelief and disobedience, the faithful Worker acts to grow or restore those to whom He has pledged completion of that which He began.  We do well to view ourselves and our fellow believers in the light of such enduring trustworthiness.  Thereby, we grow in God's grace, and also help our brethren accordingly.  Indeed, to even the carnal, wayward Corinthians, the Apostle Paul affirmed, "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord" (I Corinthians 3:3).

"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith" forms and informs our walk with God, no less than it led to salvation in Christ (Hebrews 12:2).  Who is Christ?  What has He done?  What is He doing?  What will He do forevermore in faithfulness to His Father and to us?  Growing knowledge of the answers to these questions will empower our capacity to trust and obey God as we walk with Him.  It will also restore us if we fall.  The Worker In Progress acts according to the merits and accomplishments of His Son.  We will act in response according to our knowledge of the same blessed truth.  "Consider Him" beckons the writer of Hebrews, and even more, the Spirit of God who inspired his words (Hebrews 12:3).  Our Christian life began accordingly, and so it continues until that blessed day when, again, "we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."  This day offers growth in the process, as nurtured by the Worker In Progress and our confidence in His faithfulness.

"As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving."

(Colossians 2:6-7)

Weekly Memory Verse

When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face, my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
