Orange Moon Thursday, December 29, 2023. “What To Do? Who To Trust!”

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"What To Do? Who To Trust!"

We do not always know what to do about the challenges of life.  But we do know who to trust about them.

"Of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom" (I Corinthians 1:30).

Wisdom can be defined as the proper application of knowledge and understanding.  By definition, born again believers have committed our confidence unto the God whose "understanding is infinite" and "in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Psalm 147:5; Colossians 2:3).  In those times when the path ahead seems dark to us, we do well to remind ourselves that it shines more brightly than a thousand suns in the eyes of the One who has promised to lead us throughout both time and eternity.  Thus, we do the one thing we always know to do:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not on thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The God who "cannot lie" has made a promise to be all we need Him to be, and do all we need Him to do in guiding us through our present earthly journey (Titus 1:2).  His way will not always lead us along pleasant paths, and His guidance will sometimes greatly challenge our understanding and sensibilities.  He abides with us in every step, nevertheless, and in time we will look back and see how faithfully He directed our steps.  "For this God is our God forever and ever.  He will be our guide even unto death" (Psalm 48:14).

"What to do?"  The question often lies before us.  "Who to trust!" ever answers.  God made us to "live by faith," meaning that we expect our lives will often lead us to times when our next step appears dark, but actually beckons us into the light of our Heavenly Father's promised direction (Romans 1:17).  He will lead us to think well, orchestrate guiding circumstances, motivate us to act when necessary, and restrain us when patience is most required.  Few assurances more grace the pages of Scripture than the promise of God's guidance of His trusting children.   Our privileged responsibility calls us to place confidence in our Father's faithfulness, avail ourselves of the gifts He gives to make the way known, and expect Him to confirm more and more that…

"The path of the just is as the shining light, which shineth more and more unto the perfect day."
(Proverbs 4:18)
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."
(James 1:5-7)

Weekly Memory Verse
Thy mercy, o Lord, is in the heavens, Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
(Psalm 36:5)
