"The Interior Regions"

The vast majority of God's doings in our lives proceed completely unbeknownst to us.  In the most basic sense, the trillions of atoms that comprise our physical bodies all require being "upheld by the word of His power" (Hebrews 1:3).  We see only a minimal measure  of our Lord's vast working through natural laws and forces, all which require His administration for their existence, continuance, and function.  "By Him all things consist" (Colossians 1:17).

Regarding our spirits, minds, emotions, and response to Him and others, the matter even more involves a wonder of mystery.  Our Heavenly Father must mightily work to keep our inner workings from flying into the disarray of utter insanity in a world such as the one in which we live.  We may think we fulfill this necessity of spiritual, mental, and emotional survival, and we do play a role in the matter.  God did not make robots from the dust of the ground in our creation.  However, if for a mere second He removed His primary involvement in the interior regions of our being, the consciousness of every human being would descend into chaos.  Even born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ realize only a small fraction of this vital "true Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" (John 1:9).

For the believer, the solemn truth presses us to continually communicate with our Father regarding His working in our hearts and minds.  "Search me, o God, and know my heart.  Try (test) me and know my thoughts" wisely pleaded the Psalmist (Psalm 139:23).  This we can be sure He does as He works in the most vital aspect of our being.  Knowing He does so enables our cooperation as we seek to "Keep thy heart with all diligence.  For out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23).  Why do we think, perceive, interpret, and respond to life and reality as we do?  We know only a modicum of the answer, regardless of how diligently we search the interior regions of our being.  God, however, knows all, and He is there, beholding all and graciously ready to help us realize whatever we need to understand about ourselves.  "Thou God seest me" (Genesis 16:13).

I have long said that the only greater mystery than God is myself.  No mystery to Him, thankfully, and the truth presses me to seek His illumination regarding the whys and the wherefores of my thoughts, understandings, choices, and determinations.  "In Thy light shall we see light" (Psalm 36:9).  We are "fearfully and wonderfully made" beings in every way, including and especially our consciousness (Psalm 139:14).  Only the Creator and Sustainer of our being perfectly understands the complexity He wrought in the human heart and mind.  Thankfully, He is there with purpose, seeing all and working to glorify the Lord Jesus in our thoughts, perceptions, and determinations.  He calls us to acknowledge Him, and to trust that Solomon stated the matter truly and with the blessed assurance of grace ever working within the interior regions

"Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established."

(Proverbs 16:3)
