Orange Moon Tuesday, October 7, 2025 "Anticipated Lives"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Anticipated Lives"

     We live anticipated lives.

"Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world" (Acts 15:18).

Nothing happens in our Lord's creation that He has not foreseen from everlasting.  Conversely, we ourselves can be completely sure of nothing regarding future circumstances, events, and conditions.  This includes your life and mine.  Consider this day in such terms.  We actually know nothing with any certainty regarding the experiences and events to come.  We rightly make our plans and will often fulfill them.  We also have our expectations, and often find them to have been accurate.  In real terms, however, we know literally nothing of the future with perfect assurance and anticipation.   We indeed "see through a glass darkly" regarding things to come (I Corinthians 13:12).

Little wonder Scripture calls us to "trust the Lord with all thy heart and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5).   He alone knows what is coming, and He alone is perfectly present, involved, and able to lead us along the pathways of life He perfectly sees and anticipates.  "I didn't see that coming" we often acknowledge and confess.  Never will we hear our Heavenly Father confess such limited knowledge of past events.  He will never utter "Uhoh!"  Nor will we ever hear Him express the uncertainty of "Hmmm, not sure how that's going to work out."  He knows all of that which we perceive as past, present, and future, but which He perfectly sees in eternal terms far beyond our understanding and capacity.

"His understanding is infinite" (Psalm 147:5).

"Son of man, can these bones live?" asked the Lord of Ezekiel regarding a valley filled with the remains of death (Ezekiel 37:3).   The prophet had no idea.  He did, however, possess the wisdom of faith.   "O Lord God, Thou knowest!"  He did.  And He does.  In our valleys of dry bones, or our sparkling springs of life and blessedness, God knows the present moment, just as He knew the past, and just as He sees our future in the most minute detail.  We can trust Someone possessed of such knowledge, Someone whose "understanding is infinite," and Someone who will never be taken by surprise regarding anything that ever happens in His creation, or in our lives.  We can trust Him with all our hearts because…

"All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him whom whom we have to do."
(Hebrews 4:13)
