"God Is There"
The truest thing one can say about any born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is, "God is there." Countless other aspects of life also comprise our existence, including how well or poorly we respond to the fact of our Lord's "with you" and "in you" presence (Matthew 28:20; Colossians 1:27). Nothing, however, compares with the truth that in the moment of our new birth by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus, God made our hearts the everlasting venue of His presence.
"I have declared unto them Thy name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith Thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:26).
The magnitude of the truth overwhelms our thoughts and understanding, particularly as we "walk by faith, not by sight" (II Corinthians 5:7). Most of our life experience involves the ordinary and everyday matters to which we must attend ourselves. We do not look or feel as if we serve as the dwelling place of God. We may even at times appear to be just the opposite as our response to His presence does not always align with the fact that "God is in you of a truth" (I Corinthians 14:25). Nothing changes the fact, however, nor does any contingency alter our privileged responsibility to believe the truth that the Holy Spirit dwells nearer than our next breath. The Apostle Paul called believers to continually "reckon ye also yourselves to be alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:11). The Savior lives in the believer no less than He died for us, a reality that abides as secured by God's grace. "I will dwell in them… I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (II Corinthians 6:16; Hebrews 13:5).
Affirming the truth of our Lord's presence most often involves a simple affirmation that may not seem to change circumstance, condition, or situation. Nor does it immediately always affect our emotions or senses. However, something happens when we realize the reality that we are not alone, and that whatever our experience may be in the moment, the great fact abides. God is there. God is here, and He is so to the degree He lives within the very center of our being. This is truth. This is reality. This the gift for which the Lord Jesus was forsaken on the cross of Calvary to make possible His promise to live with and within us forever. Whatever appearance, emotion, or sensation may suggest, the Spirit of God and the Word of God bear witness to the Son of God and His promised presence…. "I will come to Thee… I am with thee… I will never leave thee." Yes, our lives involve much. Our life, however, is Christ, His presence and His working for us, and within us.
"Christ… is our life."
(Colossians 3:4)
"To live is Christ."
(Philippians 1:21)
Weekly Memory Verse
We do not present our supplications before Thee for our righteousnesses, but for Thy great mercies."
(Daniel 9:18)
