Orange Moon Tuesday, January, 28, 2025 "It Has Come To That"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe

"It Has Come To That"

There is this thing called "prayer."

A born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ related a serious difficulty to a friend. "I tried this. I tried that. I tried this and that!" said the troubled man about efforts to solve his problem. "But finally, well, finally, I just had to pray about it."  The other gentleman, realizing with alarm the severity of his friend's plight, mournfully shook his head and responded with a sympathetic sigh, "Oh my, has it come to that?!"

   Yes it has.

"And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint" (Luke 18:1).

We are either praying, or we are fainting (to be wearied and lose heart).   We either take heart by trusting the heart of God.  Or we lose heart by unbelief and prayerlessness.  This truth completely counters our normal perceptions.  We tend to think that circumstances, conditions, and situations discourage and wear us out.  Certainly, the many challenges of life tempt us and may cause feelings and sensations of tiredness.  Regarding our heart, however, the Lord's parable reveals that prayerlessness actually causes any weakness experienced therein.  How could it be otherwise if prayer is what it is, namely, the accessing of God's person, presence, power, involvement, and working on our behalf?

"The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers" (I Peter 3:12).

It has come to that.  "In everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known unto God" (Philippians 4:6).  The heart of our Heavenly Father beckons our heart to seek His grace and promised provision in all things.  He will respond according to His purpose and wisdom, of course, and we will often be required to trust His heart when we cannot understand His hand.  In such times, we prayerfully access the power to patiently wait on the Lord, realizing that He cannot lie regarding His promise to faithfully provide for us.  The Heart to whom we pray has never once failed to perfectly answer prayers that accord with His will, which also always accord with our best interests.  Yes, we either pray, or we faint.  We take heart.  Or we lose heart.  In all things, at all times, and in every challenge, it has come to that.

"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us.  And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him."

(I John 5:14-15)
