Orange Moon Wednesday, November 6, 2024 “Exceeding, Abundantly Above”

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Exceeding, Abundantly Above"

We do not see most of God's answers to our prayers offered in this lifetime as we "walk by faith, not by sight" (II Corinthians 5:7).

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end, Amen" (Ephesians 3:20-21).

God's purposes in the Lord Jesus Christ are so vast in measure and mode that we cannot begin to process all He does in response to our prayers.  We ask Him to provide a  morsel of bread, which He faithfully does.  However, with the crumb comes the Christ, the Bread of life:

"He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32; emphasis added).

In ways beyond our comprehension, our Heavenly Father spiritually administers His Son in every answer to prayer.  How could we begin to see all of the grace God bestows internally to our  hearts as He provides outwardly for all other needs?  Impossible, and in our limited vision lies our greatest confidence.  If we could see and understand every answer to prayer, God would merely be a version of ourselves, albeit more and better.  "Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself" (Psalm 50:21).  Instead, we rejoice that unseen and incomprehensible answers to prayer confirm to us the wondrous measure of our Lord's doings, that proceed from His being… "His greatness is unsearchable" (Psalm 145:3).

Of God, that which we cannot know about Him illuminates our hearts as brightly as that which we can comprehend.  His glorious light shines in the unseen no less than the seen.  Applying this truth to the matter of prayer should thrill our hearts and strengthen our determination to "continue in prayer," as enabled by the Holy Spirit (Colossians 4:2).  Our Father answers our prayers, offered in space and time, with provisions that bear eternal, as well as temporal consequences.  In those times when we see the administration of morsels requested, let us rejoice.  Let us rejoice even more that that the Manna of Christ comes with every provision in a measure and mode far beyond our capacity to comprehend.  We will not see most of our Lord's answers to prayer in this lifetime as He works in ways and means far beyond our capacity to process.  No more glorious, encouraging, and strengthening truth exists regarding our requests and His response… "Exceeding, abundantly above…"

"And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus."

(I Timothy 1:14)

Weekly Memory Verse

He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.
