"The Immeasurable Measure"
Any attempt to discover how much, how great, and how glorious God's grace is in the Lord Jesus Christ will result in failure. Consider these declarations of abundance far beyond our capacity to calculate...
"And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth" (Exodus 34:6).
"Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds" (Psalm 36:5).
"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable" (Psalm 145:3).
"Great is our Lord, and of great power. His understanding is infinite" (Psalm 147:5).
"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" (II Corinthians 9:8).
"My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (II Corinthians 9:8).
"Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound" (Romans 5:20).
"Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds" (Psalm 36:5).
"The love of Christ… passeth knowledge" (Ephesians 3:19).
The affirmation of our Lord's surpassing greatness and immeasurable measure of glory in the saving grace of Christ could go on and on, as it will forevermore. Presently, we do not always see or perceive God's "wonders without number" as we walk by faith, not by sight" (Job 9:10; II Corinthians 5:7). The abundance always exists, however, and is administered in accordance with the One "in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). Indeed, God can do all and infinitely more than we require. He also knows perfectly how to supply that which will be for our ultimate and eternal good (Romans 8:28-29).
We must embrace the immeasurable measure with all our hearts as a matter of truth - because it is true - and as a matter of faith in the God "abundant in goodness and truth." By and by, we will better understand how such grace in the Lord Jesus flowed in flood tides of provision and perfect application to our truest need. Presently, we believe and often see the surpassing glories of God's grace. And if we don't, we believe nevertheless and see with our hearts His heart and His hand fulfilling perhaps the most descriptive of all Scriptural affirmations of glory beyond our fathoming…
"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end, Amen."
(Ephesians 3:20-21)
Weekly Memory Verse
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
