Orange Moon Tuesday, September 19, 2023 "From Everlasting"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"From Everlasting"

"Through the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can enter into the wonder of relationship as the essence of our existence.  We must, meaning that we devote ourselves to fellowship with God and with people as the guiding light and life of our lives."

"This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent" (John 17:3)

Only of the living and true God can it be said, "From everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God" (Psalm 90:2).  He alone has always been, and His "from everlasting" existence means that before He created all things, an "eternal past," as it were, saw Him dwelling alone as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

"He is before all things" (Colossians 1:17).

What was God doing when nothing else existed?  Certainly, we cannot begin to fully know the "wonders without number" that characterize God's doings from everlasting (Job 9:10).  We can, however, be sure of one thing:

"And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was… "Thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world" (John 17:5; 24).

God existed in a loving relationship between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all of whom are revealed in Scripture in terms of devoted fellowship to one another.  This constitutes relationship as central in God, and central in the human race originally created in His image.  The two great commands of the Bible, to love our Lord and to love others, confirm this truth of who He is, and who He made us to be (Mark 12:30).

This raises the most personal of issues in our lives.  Are we relating rightly, consistently, and increasingly to God?  Are we relating accordingly with people?  Only our Heavenly Father can answer these questions.  "Search me, o God and know my heart" prayed David in the wisdom that realizes only God can see and tell us the condition of our innermost being that exists for relationship (Psalm 139:23).  We therefore do well to consistently approach the Lord for His confirmation and/or correction of our walk with Him, and with people.  Indeed, personal fellowship with Him in prayer and His Word serve as the only means of knowing whether the relationships of our lives are as He would have them to be.  "Lead me in Thy truth" (Psalm 25:5).  We can be sure God's answers will primarily address our fellowship with Him and with others.

An endless wealth of personal reality exists in the triune God.  It could not be otherwise if the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit dwelt as the singular reality of "from everlasting."  Perfectly fulfilling communion of Heart to Heart to Heart, and communication of Mind to Mind to Mind flow within the Persons of the godhead to one another, and of one another.  Wondrously, human beings exist with the capacity for such loving fellowship.  Through the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can enter into the wonder of relationship as the essence of our existence.  We must, meaning that we devote ourselves to fellowship with God and with people as the guiding light and life of our lives.  The Lord Jesus prayed accordingly, and then suffered and died on the cross of Calvary to make possible our entrance and eternal abiding into loving God and loving people…

"And I have declared unto them Thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith Thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
(John 17:26)
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God."
(I Peter 3:18)
"The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us."
(Romans 5:5)

Weekly Memory Verse
For though He was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
(II Corinthians 13:4)
