"Infinitely Beyond, Intimately Near"

"How does it all fit together?  No created heart or mind begins to know.  But those hearts and minds can believe the truth and fall before the God so infinitely beyond, but so intimately near."

      God works purposefully and personally.

"And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord, and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by My name Jehovah was I not known to them. And I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant" (Exodus 6:2-5).

To fulfill His Christ-exalting covenant with the patriarchs, and to rescue His suffering people, God delivered Israel from Egypt.  He worked according to the compassion of His heart and the resoluteness of His ultimate intentions.   The Apostle Paul spoke in similar terms to the Ephesian believers of the New Testament, in terms of the purpose and the personal:

"To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in Heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Ephesians 3:10-11).

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children" (Ephesians 5:1).

Our Heavenly Father's wisdom enables His coordination of all things in terms of the hairs numbered on our heads, and the numbered days of creation's history that all move with His ultimate intention of revealing and glorifying the Lord Jesus.  This includes literally trillions upon trillions of matters wherein God works in "ways past finding out," but also in ways that reveal how much attention to detail He pays to children so dear that "the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry" (Romans 11:33; Psalm 34:15).  Either administration frequently leaves us in awed wonder regarding how God can work so magnificently and so minutely.

No twisting of our Heavenly Father's arm can cause Him to deviate from His eternal purpose in Christ.  He accordingly works "all things after the counsel of His own will" (Ephesians 1:11).  However, the needs of His trusting children greatly move His heart to act on our behalf in the most personal terms.  "I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God.  He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him, even into His ears" (Psalm 18:6).  How does it all fit together?  No created heart or mind begins to know.  But those hearts and minds can believe the truth and fall before the God so infinitely beyond, but so intimately near.  We will find Him amid His ways past finding out,  and His heart nearer than our next breath.

"His greatness is unsearchable."

(Psalm 145:3)

"He is not far from every one of us."

(Psalm 17:27)

Weekly Memory Verse
