Orange Moon Monday, June 20, 2022 "Known Unto God

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Known Unto God"

God is perfectly self aware.  He completely knows Himself and His infinite, eternal being.  When He declares Himself to be "I AM," no uncertainty shadows any portion of His character, nature, and way (Exodus 3:14).  This leads also to His perfect understanding of everything He does.

"Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world" (Acts 15:18).

What does this fascinating truth tell us?  Eternally endless answers await us.  Certainly, awe and amazement presently lead us to bow within our heart, and perhaps upon our knees, in the holy light of wonder regarding the existence of such a being.  Little wonder that Solomon calls us to "trust the Lord with all thy heart" (Proverbs 3:5).

Consider.  God perfectly knows every detail of the most incomprehensible of all subjects, that is, Himself.  I try to keep the matter as a running discourse, seeking to ask the Lord on a consistent and growing basis, "Heavenly Father, who are You?"  The Apostle Paul asked this question upon seeing the Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus, the most perfect inquiry he could have offered (Acts 9:5).  Paul's epistles indicate he continued to seek the same light throughout his earthly journey.  As should we.  Regardless of how far we have ventured along the path of righteousness, an endless voyage into the living God awaits.  He beckons us to call for greater knowledge and insight regarding who He is.  We can be sure of answers because our Lord perfectly knows who He is, and can perfectly answer.  "Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3).

The truth we consider may seem obvious, but think of how overwhelming it would be if someone asked us the question, "Who are you?" If honest, we would quickly have to say, "You know, I am trying to find that out myself."  This is especially true for born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.  We are "new creatures" in Christ, possessed of His own "newness of life," and declared to be a "new man, created in righteousness and true holiness" (II Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:4; Ephesians 4:24).  What does this all mean, and how can we begin to fully understand or explain it?  We cannot.  Perfect self-knowledge and awareness belongs to God only.  The contrast between He and ourselves helps us to realize the wonder of "His understanding is infinite" (Psalm 147:5).

This suggests how fully our God can be trusted.  We rely on those who know things we do not know.  By definition, this means that trusting God as fully as Scripture commands requires that we could never ask Him anything about Himself that might stump Him for an answer.  We never will.  It cannot happen.  God knows all.  About Himself.  Thus, we can cast our confidence upon Him with absolute and complete certainty, yet another blessed reason we rejoice in the truth we often ponder in this messages: "No one has ever trusted in the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and been disappointed for doing so.  And no one ever will."  Yes, we can trust someone who perfectly knows Himself.  There is but One.  Thus, we do well in this moment and always to fling our souls upon Him with complete abandon and utmost confidence.  God knows Himself perfectly and infinitely.  He perfectly knows what to do as the expression of who He is. Let us breathe the sweet sigh of peace in such holy light, and still our hearts in awe, in wonder, and in loving devotion to the One who knows all about the most glorious of all subjects.  About Himself.

"The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God."
(I Corinthians 2:11)
