Orange Moon Saturday, September 4, 2021 "He Runs To Me"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"He Runs To Me"

No one ever has to drag forgiveness from the heart of God.

"He delighteth in mercy" (Proverbs 15:8).
"I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.  And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him" (Luke 15:18-20).

God's heart of mercy flows with abundance of forgiveness to all who will come in the way He made for us through the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Be it the condemned sinner seeking pardon, or the wayward saint requiring restoration, grace paves the path to the throne of God, and grace awaits us when we arrive.

The words that follow are lyrics to a new song I wrote this week.  We'll likely record it and send it out at some time in the future (although Frances hasn't even heard it yet!).  For now, I thought I'd send the words along to illustrate the subject at hand.

I ran away from my father
although he loved me so.
And now I lie in this ruin.
How can I back to him go?
For I ran away from my father,
I ran away from my father.

I might could return as a servant,
maybe he'd receive me so.
But after what I've done I couldn't blame him,
if he looked away and told me to go.
For I ran away from my father,
I ran away from my father.

Now I return to my father
in hopes I might be his slave.
For I think of his love and his kindness,
how often I've seen his grace.
So now I return to my father,
now I return to my father.

What is that I see in the distance,
that moves with such hurry and haste?
oh can it be, oh is it my father,
running to me with tears on his face?

For I ran away from my father,
but now he runs to me in grace.
and in his eyes I see such mercy,
and love shining brightly in his face.

Oh, I ran away from my father, but now he runs to me!
I ran away from my father, but now he runs to me!

"For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee."
(Psalm 86:5)

Weekly Memory Verse
To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(Romans 8:6)
