Orange Moon Tuesday, August 10, 2021 "Mr. Ken Petersen"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Mr. Ken Petersen"

    I will miss Mr. Ken.

"Absent from the body… present with the Lord" (II Corinthians 5:8).

I refer to Mr. Ken Petersen, who went to be with our Lord yesterday morning.  Mr. Ken belonged to a church where we teach on Sunday mornings.  Everybody calls him "Mr. Ken" out of respect.  He was - and is - a man who commanded that, and also a man for whom many have deep affection.  I will not be alone in missing him, and not alone in rejoicing that one day, we shall see him again (and hear that booming laugh!).

The following are lyrics of a song Frances and I wrote when her dad went to be with the Lord many years ago.  They seem more than appropriate for Mr. Ken.

So for now, farewell.
I bid you leave with the tears of sorrow's well.
But in my heart, I can tell, I can tell
that His joy still remains,
and you and I will meet again.

Where you are there is no pain,
for in that hour when you looked into God's face,
every sadness flew away, flew away.
For His joy still remains,
and you and I will meet again.

Until that day, I will smile
every time I think of you in days gone by.
But most of all, I will praise, I will praise,
for His joy still remains.
And you and I will meet again…
you and I will meet again.

Godspeed, Mr. Ken.  When we remember you, it will be with thanksgiving, and it will motivate us to follow in your footsteps of a life well lived for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and the blessing of others.  And oh yes, one more time, for you: Go Packers!

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
(Psalm 116:15)

Weekly Memory Verse
"I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
(Isaiah 43:19)
