His Story 4 - His Story - "Our Story"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

His Story

4 - "Our Story"

What about our personal history?  Is this His Story also?  Absolutely!

"My times are in Thy hand" (Psalm 31:15).

God has worked, is working, and will work in the lives of born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to conform us to His spiritual and moral image (Romans 8:28-29).   If we look back, His hand worked.  If we look ahead, His hand will work.  If we look at now, His hand is working.  "We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works" (Ephesians 2:10).  We may have little understanding in regard to how our Heavenly Father is working.  However, we require no understanding regarding the truth that He is working.  He cannot do otherwise because His Word states the fact of His perpetual and persistent involvement in our lives.  Our times are in an active Hand that cannot and will not cease His redemptive activity on our behalf.  "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).

Of course, believers play an active role in God's purposes.  We "work out" that which He "works in" (Philippians 2:12-13).  Viewing past, present, and future in terms of our Lord's active presence and involvement goes far in motivating a faithful and growing walk with God through Christ.  The writer of Hebrews describes the Lord Jesus as "the author and finisher of our faith."  He furthermore calls us to "consider Him, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds" (Hebrews 12:12-3).  Such remembrance and realization that "we are His workmanship" refreshes us in times of temptation to forget the Divine "working in" that empowers human "working out."   "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10).

To the degree we know the faithfulness of God in past, present, and future will be the degree to which we trust and obey Him in the only time presently available to our hand - now.  Let us take the step at hand in assurance that "my times are in Thy hand."  Our story is His story - this is peace.  This is strength.  This is confidence.  And this is the love of God given to all who who realize that our times are in eternal Hands.

"The Lord God almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
 (Revelation 4:8).

Weekly Memory Verse
