Orange Moon Tuesday, June 11, 2024 "Expecting Explanations"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Expecting Explanations"

"With all thy getting, get understanding" (Proverbs 4:7).

God loves to explain Himself and His ways.

"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3).

Of trusting, submitted hearts and minds, the Psalmist declared, "the secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him" (Psalm 25:14).  We must perceive our Lord in these terms of joy in communication, despite the fact that we presently "walk by faith, not by sight" (II Corinthians 5:7).  By His Word, His Spirit, His people, and His providential working in our lives and the world, the voice of God sounds and resounds.  "The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18).

We must expect our Lord to meet us along the way of our lives, according to His purpose, timing, and working.  Otherwise, we may miss glories of His light.  Consider Cloepas and the other disciple who believed the Lord Jesus Christ to be dead in a tomb, and who thus could not see that He met them along their way (Luke 24:13-33).  Had they better known their Lord and His promises, clear eyes of heart and mind might have enabled awareness of their Lord's presence and who it was who spoke with them.  The same risen Christ may meet us along our pathways, and we do not want to realize only after the fact that we have been graced with a special display of His light.  As Jacob confessed at Peniel, "Surely the Lord is in this place.  And I knew it not!" (Genesis 28:16).

We can never know all of our Lord and His truth, both now or even in eternity to come.  An infinite, eternal God cannot possibly be completely understood by finite, created beings.  However, we can always know some, and we can always know more.  The Spirit of God, the Word of God, the church of God, and the illuminating presence of God in the world beckon us to expect such light to shine upon us, and within us.  Yes, our Heavenly Father loves to explain Himself, and He loves for us to expect His explanations.  He calls us to call upon Him, and to believe that He will faithfully answer.  He will, and we will more often know who it is who meets us with "shining light" along "the path of the just."

"O send out Thy light and Thy truth; let them lead me; let them bring me unto Thy holy hill, and to Thy tabernacles."

(Psalm 43:3)

Weekly Memory Verse

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord, He is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else."

 (Deuteronomy 4:39)
