Orange Moon Friday, May 24, 2024 “Prayers In Time. Answers Forever”

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Prayers In Time.  Answers Forever"

"Our moment of request, if offered according to the will of God, will serve as a conduit in time through which glories of Christ will flow forevermore."

We pray our prayers in time and space.  "In this day give us our daily bread."  God, conversely, answers prayer in terms of "the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Matthew 6:11; Ephesians 3:11).

Countless implications flow from this Heaven/earth synthesis involving God's working and our participation therein.  For the present, let us consider the truth that while we make our requests at a point in time, God's answers will be eternally ongoing in their significance and application.  "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever" (Ecclesiastes 3:14).

Suppose we make a request for George today, on Friday, May 24, 2024.  Our Heavenly Father may immediately answer our prayer.  Or, the answer may require time to be fulfilled.  It may even involve many sub-answers, as it were, needs of which we know nothing, but which must be addressed in order for the full fruition of God's answer to come to pass.  We pray our prayer for George "in this day."  We may forget we have prayed it, and the request may never again come to mind.  That is, to our mind.  God, however, proceeds to administer His presence and involvement to answer our prayer for George in ways that may be ongoing for years, and most importantly, will surely bear ramifications of eternal consequence.  "The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness" (Psalm 111:7).

Let us ponder this the next time we pray.  Our moment of request, if offered according to the will of God, will serve as a conduit in time through which glories of Christ will flow forevermore.  Prayers we offered years or decades ago, long forgotten by us, are still being answered according to the perfection of God's wisdom and purpose.  Eternity will not exhaust the "exceeding, abundantly above all we ask or think" measure of our Father's working in response to our praying (Ephesians 3:20).  Yes, the "in this day" prayer we pray leads to "works of His hands… forever and ever."

"We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

(II Corinthians 4:18)
