Orange Moon Monday, November 6, 2023 "Human"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Human"

"What is a human being?  Look to Christ, the God who became man, and the man who remains God.  He alone is perfectly human, as God defines humanity."

It could be said that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only completely human being who has yet lived.

"This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17).
"I do always those things that please Him" (John 8:29).
"We have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15).

Only the Lord Jesus has lived an earthly lifetime in perfect accordance with what God made human beings to be (John 1:14).  He serves as the ideal, the prototype, and the paragon of humanity.  What is a human being?  Our Heavenly Father directs us to His Son - this is a human being.  Without relinquishing His deity, the Lord Jesus became human for our sake, and will forever be human.  "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (John 1:14; I Timothy 2:5).  Our Lord now dwells in the Heavenlies as the glorious Son of God and the glorified son of man, seated at the right hand of His Father, and ever living "to make intercession" for us (Hebrews 7:25).

Even a cursory contemplation of the truth we consider must surely take our breath away.  The living God, infinite and eternal beyond all imagination, took upon Himself humanity to redeem us from our sins and our failure to be what God made us to be.  The Lord Jesus will forever be human, again, without forfeiting His Person and substance as the second Person of the triune godhead.  The humility and condescension of such a wonder constitutes a glory for which eternity will not allow enough amazed wonder and appreciation.  Moreover, the consideration bears witness to us of what God has made us to be as human beings.  "Walk, even as He walked" (I John 2:6).  Indeed, only the redeeming grace of the Savior can make us fully human, as God defines humanity.  This He does by example, and even more, by indwelling…

"Because ye are sons, God hath sent for the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying Abba Father" (Galatians 4:6).

We must consider ourselves as a work in progress, God's redeeming work of fulfilling and perfecting our humanity in accordance with His design.  Discovering the perfect humanity of the Lord Jesus in the pages of Scripture illuminates the steps of our personal journey.  He is what God made human beings to be, in terms of character and trusting, devoted response to our Heavenly Father.  What is a human being?  Look to Christ, the God who became man, and the man who remains God.  He alone is perfectly human as God defines humanity.  Wonderfully, Scripture promises that the more we know the Lord Jesus, the more we will become like Him in our countenance, demeanor, attitudes, words, and deeds.  Thereby, we more become what our Father intends us to be…

"We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."
(I John 3:2)
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."
(II Corinthians 3:18)

Weekly Memory Verse
We have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
