"Call Unto Me"
"To whatever degree we know of God and His truth, an infinite measure of light becomes us to come further, fly higher, and dive deeper."
An infinite God beckons us into the knowledge of Himself and the understanding of His truth.
"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which Thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3).
God's promise of more than twenty five hundred years ago abides unto this moment, as it will forevermore in light of "the unsearchable riches of Christ" (Ephesians 3:8). Eternal glories in the Lord Jesus await us, never to be exhausted or fully discovered. Regardless of how far we have ventured into God and His truth, the journey will always have just begun. Infinity, by definition, tells us this, that the more we know, the more we realize can be known. An eternity in Christ thus promises new wonders to be discovered, and those already known to be enhanced. "Then said He unto them, Every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of Heaven is like unto a man that is a household, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old."
Consider the truth, perhaps the most seemingly simple and forthright declaration of the Bible: "there is one God" (I Timothy 2:5). Do we know all that this means? Hardly. First, "the most simple and forthright declaration" magnifies into eternal wonder when we discover that one God dwells in and as three glorious Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (I Peter 1:3; Hebrews 1:8; Acts 5:4). We realize, or begin to realize, the implications of such glory in more ways than our minds can presently fathom, or ever will understand. Three as One, One as Three, with no contradiction, conflict, or paradox whatsoever in truth and reality, but which promise "wonders without number" to be revealed and received throughout a glorious forever (Job 9:10). The simple and the sublime unite in the Person(s) of God, calling us to ask for "great and mighty things" granted to the lowly and humble who realize that regardless of how far we have come, the path of righteousness eternally stretches ever onward. "The path of the just is as the shining light, which shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18).
Eternity has already begun for born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ regarding the knowledge of God. "This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent" (John 17:3). We "have eternal life" in this sense, that is, we know God, and we can know Him better. Our voyage includes this day. To whatever degree we have ventured into our Lord's light, an infinite measure of illumination beckons us to come further, fly higher, and dive deeper. "Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" (I John 5:13; II Peter 3:18). A prayerful heart, an open Bible, fellowship with other believers, and the expectation of faith that God and His light await us along every pathway of life will open our hearts to behold infinite glories of grace, and unfathomable wonders of truth.
Call unto Me and I will answer thee
and show thee great and mighty things
you do not know, you cannot imagine,
glories of grace your mind cannot fathom.
Call unto Me, call unto Me.
I made your heart to know My heart,
I made your spirit to journey far
into the glories of the light
that glimmers so brightly in the face of Christ.
Call unto Me, call unto Me.
Eternity will not suffice
for you to fully see the wonders of light,
awaiting in My love and grace,
as you gaze forever into My face.
Call unto Me, call unto Me.
"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been His counselor? Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto Him again? For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen."
(Romans 11:33-36)
