Orange Moon Wednesday, January 4, 2023 "Worthy Is the Lamb!"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

              "Worthy Is the Lamb!"

Among the most prevailing sensibilities of redeemed human beings in Heaven will be the awareness that we are there by no merit of our own, but rather through the Person and work of Another.

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5:1-2).
"He hath made us accepted in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:6).

We all eagerly anticipate the glories of Heaven in the eternal presence of God.  Streets of gold, gates of pearl, a tearless forever, and joy in the Lord Jesus and each other await us in God's "wonders without number" (Job 9:10).  Our Heavenly Father would certainly have us rejoice in the glories to come, and doubtless rejoices Himself in the grace He will forever bestow upon us.  "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:32).  Amid all, however, will be our perfected awareness that the blessedness of Heaven graces us only because the Lord Jesus knew the sorrows of earth.

"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing!" (Revelation 5:12).

How often might that refrain sound and resound throughout Heaven and creation in eternity to come?    The answer of the redeemed will be, "Not enough!"  We may not think it consciously in every moment of forever, but the awareness will permeate every aspect of our glorified being.  "I am here because, and only because of the Lord Jesus.  I do not deserve to be here, but He made possible my blessedness and that of all my brothers and sisters in this holy place.  Worthy indeed is the Lamb, whose worthiness God freely imputed to us because He imputed our sins to Him!"

Every believer knows this truth.  We would not be believers if we didn't.  However, none of us know it as well as we need to, or as well as we will in eternity.  Surely the Apostle Peter had this in mind when he enjoined, "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom be glory both now and forever, Amen" (II Peter 3:18).  This day offers opportunity for such growth as the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures beckon us to behold in greater measure the worthiness of the Lamb as our hope and salvation.  We do not know such grace well enough, this is true.  But how could we?  I suspect that even in eternity we will know that we cannot fully know the measure of the Lamb's sacrifice that resulted in the immeasurable grace we will forever receive and experience.  Thus, we do not wait until Heaven to say it, to sing it, to live it - Worthy is the Lamb!

"He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
(II Corinthians 5:21)
"And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee. I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which Thou hast showed unto Thy servant."
(Genesis 32:9-10)
"Walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto His kingdom and glory."
(I Thessalonians 2:12)

Weekly Memory Verse
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
