Orange Moon Thursday, April 21, 2022 "Many Fish, Many Hairs"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Many Fish, Many Hairs"

God has, as the saying goes, many fish to fry.

"As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught" (John 21:9-10).
"God… worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" (Ephesians 1:3; 11).

Scientists tell us the universe is vast beyond our comprehension.  This should not surprise us since Scripture long ago proclaimed a Creator infinite in scope and measure - "the heaven of heaven's cannot contain Thee" (I Kings 8:27).  Creation bears witness to its Maker's magnitude, which also includes His necessary presence and involvement in all things.

"By Him all things consist" (Colossians 1:17).

Reverently speaking, our Lord has a lot of fish to fry as He sustains creation and coordinates His universal purpose in Christ.  Let us waste no time in attempting to understand how He does what He does in a universe so vast.  We will never comprehend such wonder, nor do we require such knowledge.  However, we might consider another aspect of truth that correlates by contrast.  Namely, the God who sees and oversees a vast universe also pointedly and personally looks upon you and me.

"The very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matthew 10:30).

Once again, we cannot understand this perspective of keen focus any more than we comprehend God's universal seeing of all things.  However, the numbering of our hairs does encourage us to believe that our Heavenly Father intimately involves Himself in every moment of our lives, including this one.  Many fish to fry - the governance of a vast creation - does not preclude our Lord from rapt attention on the hearts and lives of His sons and daughters in Christ.  "Thou God seest Me" (Genesis 16:13).  Moreover, He sees us with a loving devotion to our best interests as He works "all things together" for the good of conforming us to the spiritual and moral image of the Lord Jesus (Romans 8:28-29).  Intense interest accompanies His gaze upon us, along with absolute determination to "supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

The God who "doeth wonders without number" nevertheless keeps count of every hair upon our head (Job 9:10).   Transcendent beyond measure, but nearer than the next breath He gives - this is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus.  We must know both truths about Him.  Our Father has many fish to fry as He sees and oversees all.  But none will keep Him from pointed involvement as the very Life of our lives.  This moment finds His gaze upon us, as will all that follow.  Such remembrance lifts from the altar whereupon we fall before Him in wonder to joyfully arise and walk with Him in faith.  Yes, many fish to fry, and many hairs to count…

"For of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever, Amen."
(Romans 11:36)
"And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind Him, and touched the border of His garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched Me?  When all denied, Peter and they that were with Him said, Master, the multitude throng Thee and press Thee, and sayest Thou, Who touched Me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched Me."
(Luke 8:43-46)

Weekly Memory Verse
"Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).
