Orange Moon Wednesday, June 2, 2021 "Life Eternal"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Life Eternal"

Forever and ever, we will discover new wonders of the living God, whose character, nature, and way transcend all measure.

"His greatness is unsearchable" (Psalm 145:3).

How does this impact today?  Simply because it exists as a part of "forever and ever."

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life" (I John 5:13).

Note the present tense of eternal life.  We have it, that is, born again believers have already entered into the very heart of life everlasting.  The reason for this is that eternal life does not primarily concern how long we we will live, but rather Who we know while living forevermore.

"This is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent" (John 17:3).

God exists as a relationship, that is, one God dwells in three glorious Persons who have forever loved one another in such devotion that the Apostle John affirms, "God is love" (I John 4:8).  Our Lord made humanity in His image, meaning that devoted relationship is also central to our being and existence.  God made us for communion with Himself.  Thus, to live as He defines life means that we know the Father and the Son, as revealed by the Holy Spirit.  This is now for the born again believer in the Lord Jesus.  While limited in our present existence - "we see through a glass darkly - Christians nevertheless know our God to one degree or another.  Moreover, in context of our current consideration, we can know always Him better.  "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knows not… But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (Jeremiah 33:3).

By His Spirit, His Word, His church, and His creation, God beckons to us that we avail ourselves of the wonders found only in Him.  We were made and redeemed for this, and no greater tragedy can be imagined than failure to seek with great expectation the gift God offers to us day by day, that is, the gift of Himself.  Let us then open His Word that informs.  Let us trust His Spirit that illuminates.  Let us fellowship with other believers who inspire.  And let us look upon the things God has made as instruments whereby "the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen" (Romans 1:20).  This is life in its glorious, wondrous essence, that is, to know and fellowship with God in His love.  Nothing else compares because "this is life eternal" can only be defined as "that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent" (John 17:3).

"He is thy life."
(Deuteronomy 30:20)
"To live is Christ."
(Philippians 1:21)

Weekly Memory Verse
Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
(Philippians 2:17).
