Orange Moon Monday, April 19, 2021 "Thou Art Mine"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Thou Art Mine"

In a sermon yesterday, I mentioned a truth of Scripture we have often considered together in these messages through the years.

    "I am Thine" (Psalm 119:94).

Rightly understood and embraced in the light of God's Word, no truth more rescues and secures our hearts.  Indeed, consider that an infinite, all powerful Being, who in boundless love is devoted to our welfare and best interests, calls to our hearts with the liberating assurance that "Thou art Mine" (Isaiah 43:1).  For those who hear and respond, no greater peace will ever descend upon us, or arise within us.  Even the most diligent and disciplined among humanity fail to manage their own lives well, and often those who seem most on top of things are the ones most dominated by fear and insecurity.  We were not made to belong to ourselves, we do not belong to ourselves, and while the realization may disturb us initially, the truth ultimately fills our being with the tranquility of the Prince of peace.  "We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture" (Psalm 100:3).

To live this day in the awareness of being God's created possession, and even more, His "purchased possession" (by Christ's sacrifice), involves a completely different sensibility than life lived in the dark delusion that we own ourselves (Ephesians 1:14).  We will face the same pressures and challenges as do all, and we will still face the temptation (and sometimes succumb) to take over the reins of our lives.  However, for those who hear the sounding and resounding Voice - "Thou art Mine" - and respond in grateful and trusting faith - "I am Thine" - the assurance of belonging to Another ever draws us back into the light of reality.  Yes, let us breathe the sweet sigh of serenity as the Prince graces with His peace - "Thou art Mine."

"The earth is the Lord, and the fullness thereof, and all they that dwell therein."
(Psalm 24:1)
"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
(I Corinthians 6:20)
