Orange Moon "Altitude and Attitude"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe...

"Altitude and Attitude"

For born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, altitude greatly benefits and enhances attitude when we remember our spiritual place in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"God… hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:6).

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:1-2).

We are a Heavenly people who live in a realm largely foreign to our spiritual heritage and citizenship - "strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13).  We also live in mortal bodies composed of earthly substance that "lusteth against the spirit"(Galatians 5:17).  Thus, we must be frequently reminded that, as the old hymn declares, "This world is not my home."  Even more, we must remember that in terms of spiritual reality, Heaven is our home.  Indeed, the Apostle Paul declares that believers already "sit together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus."  A part of us, the very heart of us, has already escaped the surly bonds of earth to dwell in God's dimension beyond time and space.  No one fully understands what this fascinating Biblical affirmation means, but we do well to believe its truth that we are already a Heavenly people.  "Our conversation (commonwealth) is in Heaven" (Philippians 3:20).

Altitude affects attitude.  We are a Heavenly people, a spiritual reality that forever abides through the grace of the Lord Jesus.  However, we must also know in ever greater measure that such Truth is true. This holy light greatly affects our perception of God, ourselves, others, the world in which we live, and our understanding of the events of our lives.  When "things above" increasingly direct our primary focus, an attitude of grateful remembrance and confident expectation leads us in the joyful peace of the Lord Jesus.  Indeed, if we are Heavenly people, we are God's people.  And if we are God's people, well, a Bible full of the ramifications of this glorious blessing of Christ cannot help but result in an attitude based on Heavenly altitude.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places in Christ."

(Ephesians 1:3)
