Orange Moon "This Day"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"This Day"

Regarding situation, circumstance, and condition, we do not know what this day will bring.  Born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, however, do know Who will bring it.

"This is the day which the Lord hath made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).

God's determinations and allowances in our lives involve the pleasant, the painful, and the mundane.  Even more, however, they involve His certain promise to work "all things together for good to them that love Him" (Romans 8:28).  We must build an altar within our hearts such assurance, sacrificing any notion of our lives being merely random or capricious.  To the contrary, the God who perfectly sees and directs every atom of His creation to the most minute detail - "by Him all things consist" - works in our lives with a finely tuned purpose beyond all understanding and imagination (Colossians 1:17).  The moments of this day all fit into such determination, offering our hearts a haven of rest on brightly lit summits, in dark valleys, and along the well worn pathways of everyday experience.  "God… worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" (Ephesians 1:3).

A life truly lived through Christ requires this confidence.  We won't always remember it, and we will be greatly tempted at times to wonder if it is true.  We must therefore frequently visit the aforementioned altar in our hearts through prayerful reading of Scripture, fellowship with other believers, and availing ourselves to the many opportunities life offers to decisively believe that God works His good purposes in all that comes our way.  He does, including this day He has made for the glory of the Lord Jesus, our benefit, and the benefit of others He purposes to bless through us.  Thus, we do well to join the Psalmist in his determination to rejoice in the Maker of our days, and of this day.

"My times are in Thy hand."

(Psalm 31:15)

Weekly Memory Verse

And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.

(Colossians 1:17)
