Orange Moon "Dear Children"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

   "Dear Children"

The Apostle Paul calls us to be "followers of God, as dear children," meaning we seek to love our Lord in the remembrance and affirmation of how much He loves us (Ephesians 5:1).

"We love Him because He first loved us" (I John 4:19).

In fact, God loves His trusting children in Christ like He loves Christ.  "Thou hast loved them as Thou hast loved Me" (John 17:23).  Our Savior provides the basis of being "dear" to our Heavenly Father, namely, we are spiritually united to His Son to the degree of being in Christ, and of Christ being in us. This grants a relationship and standing with our Heavenly Father so much nearer than - and dearer - than we often realize.  Indeed, our spiritual enemies seek to cloud our awareness of God's affectionate devotion, knowing that a growing understanding of His love for us in the light of Biblical truth can only lead to a growing response of reciprocal love for Him.

In our present lives, we certainly do not always live as "dear children."  Our actions and inactions can greatly displease our Lord.  However, nothing changes the eternally prevailing attitude of devotion in the heart of God toward all who are in Christ.  This realization goes far in motivating and empowering our determination to respond in growing faith, obedience, and a life whereby we serve as moons that absorb and reflect the Light of God's love that so graciously and mercifully shines upon us in Christ.

"The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us."

(Romans 5:5)
