Orange Moon Cafe "Past Finding Out"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe...

  "Past Finding Out"

If God and His truth are infinite, even His Word, the Bible, cannot tell us everything to be known about Him.

"The blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords, who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man hath seen, nor can see, to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen"  (I Timothy 6:15-16).

This is not to minimize the vital and more than adequate content of the  text of Scripture.  In the Bible, God gave to us all the facts necessary to form and inform our understanding whereby we walk with Him in truth.  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (II Timothy 3:16).  We lack nothing regarding the necessary light whereby the Holy Spirit enables us to know God and respond to Him through the Lord Jesus Christ.  "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105).

This being said, it remains true that infinite truth cannot be contained within even the blessed pages of the Bible.  Our Father did not and could not reveal in Scripture everything about Himself, His creation, His eternal purpose in Christ, and His presence in our lives.  Eternity will be required for this, and even forever will not reveal all.  Again, by definition, infinite truth can never be fully plumbed, fathomed, or accessed.  "His understanding is infinite" (Psalm 147:5).

No thought should more thrill our hearts with wonder.  A lifetime of searching the Scriptures to discover all we can of their truth presently blesses us.  We then enter an eternity wherein we will doubtless better understand the Bible, but which also promises glories presently beyond its holy contents.  This day offers opportunity for both glories as we ponder the Word, and as we anticipate its promise of indescribable wonders to come.

"O the depth of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!"

(Romans 11:33).
