"Watered From Within"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Watered From Within"

Until the flood of Noah, it did not rain upon the earth.  Instead, the ground was watered from within.  "There went up a mist from the earth and watered the face of the whole ground" (Genesis 2:6).

In similar fashion, born again believers are spiritually watered from within.  "He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water" (John 7:38).

Christians are the dwelling place of our Lord, "the temple of the living God" (II Corinthians 6:16).  Presently, however, this most monumental of personal realities does not always appear or feel as if true, and we do not always live accordingly.  "We walk by faith, not by sight… If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit" (II Corinthians 5:7; Galatians 5:25).  We must therefore grow in the Biblical knowledge and understanding of the Lord's indwelling presence, thus leading to countless opportunities to trust in His working within our hearts "as the Scripture hath said."  "It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13).

Such grace and truth first illuminates, then encourages, and finally challenges us.  We must know who and what we are in Christ if we are to live accordingly.  "Reckon ye also yourselves to be… alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:11).  Thereby we live in anticipation regarding God's doings in our hearts and hands.  "My expectation is from Him" (Psalm 62:5).  We are also ushered into a no excuses life, based upon the truth that we live not according to our own ability, but rather the enabling of the indwelling Holy Spirit.  "Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10).  Whatever our Heavenly Father calls us to do in this day, we can execute as we remember and affirm the reality that led the Apostle Paul to testify, "By the grace of God I am what I am… I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (I Corinthians 15:10; Philippians 4:13).

The Christ who died for us now lives in us through the gift and presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit.  We "live through Him" (I John 4:9).  Watered from within.  We do not wait for the rains of pleasant circumstances, conditions, or situations to faithfully walk with our Lord.  We have no need for such outward bestowals, although we appreciate them when they descend from Heaven.  We rather view ourselves as abundantly enabled for whatever God calls us to be and do, based upon the greatest gift provided through the Lord Jesus, namely, the gift of Himself dwelling with and within us…

"Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying Abba Father."
(Galatians 4:6)
