"To Seek and To See"

The Apostle Paul declared to his son in the faith Timothy that "the Scriptures… are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (II Timothy 3:15).  Note that Timothy already knew the Lord Jesus as Savior.  He nevertheless needed increased wisdom regarding the realities of God's saving grace and the life of trust whereby we avail ourselves of the reality in which we live.  The Bible serves as the open portal through which we discover the glory of salvation and the Savior who provides it.  "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105).

"In Thy light shall we see light" (Psalm 36:9).

Just what (Who) did we get ourselves into when we trusted in Christ?  We will not know apart from consistent exposure to the illumination that shines forth from the Scriptures.  Infinite truth awaits us there that bears monumental impact on matters of both time and eternity.  This includes that matters we presently face concerning relationship with God and people, along with the countless other issues that comprise our lives.  God offers much grace in Christ at every venue of our existence.  The Bible provides the light that enables us to see our Lord's loving involvement in all things, and how He would have us respond in faith, expectation, and submission to His glory, will, and eternal purpose in Christ.

Consider some matter of challenge presently faced.  Who is God in the matter?  What does He promise to do?  Who am I in the matter?  What does the Lord call me to do?  How would He have me to respond and relate to the people involved?  These and other questions concerning the issues of life can only be answered as we seek the Holy Spirit's illumination upon the Word of God.  We see light in His light as we seek light in His light.  Keeping our hearts and minds near the hearth upon which the flames of Scripture warm and illuminate assures us of the Christ-enabled ability to "walk in the light, as He is in the light" (I John 1:7).  Much grace awaits us there, grace our Heavenly Father loves to bestow as we avail ourselves through the faith fostered as we seek and see light in His light…

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
(Romans 10:17)

Weekly Memory Verse
Every word of God is pure.  He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him."
(Proverbs 30:5)
