Orange Moon July 26, 2025 "Frame of Reference"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"Frame of Reference"

In human experience, we have no frame of reference for trusting someone with all our hearts.  Even the best and brightest among us sometimes fail in trustworthiness, whether due to lack of opportunity, or inexcusable failure to fulfill commitments and obligations.  Regarding divine experience, conversely, our relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ leads us to gratefully follow Solomon's mandate of complete confidence:

"Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lead not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Someone exists in whom we can place total trust, a faithful Father so utterly "righteous in all His ways and holy in all His works" that He not only will not fail in faithfulness.  He cannot do so (Psalm 145:17).  He fulfills every commitment.  His "every word is pure" in truth and perfect veracity (Proverbs 30:5).  He has always done what He said He would do.  He will always do what He says He will do.  Every promise in His Word has either already come to pass, or is in the process of moving toward complete fulfillment. No one has ever trusted in the God and Father of our Lord Jesus and been disappointed for doing so.  And no one ever will.  "He that believeth on Him shall not be confounded" (I Peter 2:6).  Thus, we can trust our God.  With all our hearts.

We must commit ourselves to the frame of reference wherein lies progressive experience of One who "cannot lie" and who cannot be other than who He is (Titus 1:2).  Even if we have lived among people who desire to be trustworthy and true, we have not found perfection.  Nor will we.  Life among the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, however, will lead to our discovery that we can cast the entirety of our hearts upon a faithfulness that does not and cannot fail.  We began our relationship with God through the Lord Jesus in such faith, and we grow in the realization that there is a place, a place of grace, whereupon our spirits can rest in complete assurance and confidence.  It matters not the circumstance, condition, or situation.  Someone exists so true of heart that He is Himself the very essence of truth (John 14:6).  We can and must trust such a one, no matter what.  Yes, God alone is our frame of reference regarding faithfulness of perfect character and measure, making possible our growing life of faith.  Because again, no one has ever trusted the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and been disappointed for doing so.  And no one ever will.

"Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds."

(Psalm 36:5)

"God is faithful."

(I Corinthians 1:9)

Weekly Memory Verse
