"The Authoritative Perspective"
The fastest moving object made by human beings, the Parker Solar Probe launched by NASA, reached a momentary velocity of 430,000 mph. As unimaginably rapid as this may be, the speed is far too slow for interstellar travel, illustrated by the fact it would take 6,300 years to reach the nearest star, Proxima Centauri. No missions are currently planned, and no space exploring adventurers have volunteered!
Fast? Yes. Slow? Yes. It's all a matter of perspective. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke to this truth:
"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24).
Reality governs our existence. We live in God's creation, which we cannot escape regardless of how fast we may figuratively run to make the attempt. Our experience of the "righteous judgment" of truth ebbs and flows, based on our perspective. Earthly facts may be real and true in their own context. Appearance may sometimes reflect things factually in such terms. However, an infinitely greater truth ever lies before us, and is available to us as the governing reality of our hearts and lives. God is. God is present. God is active (Exodus 3:14; Psalm 139:7-13; Ephesians 1:11). We may not perceive these greatest of all facts. This does not change their present and eternal actuality, as Jacob learned at Bethel:
"Surely the Lord is in this place. And I knew it not!" (Genesis 28:16).
No place exists wherein God does not exist as the greatest reality, actuality, and factuality. No circumstance, situation, or condition escapes His presence or His active involvement in working all things according to "the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Ephesians 3:11). A vast collection of questions addressed by theologians, philosophers, ethicists, and all who ponder God arises when considering this great fact of all things. Far more importantly, however, a vast collection of opportunities await all who will determine that "the Lord is in this place" and that His active presence will serve as our authoritative perspective. "I will look for Him" (Isaiah 8:17).
We may sincerely and beneficially ponder the intriguing questions of God, His presence, and His working. The preponderance of our lives, however, involves seizing the countless opportunities life affords to see by faith the reality, the actuality, the factuality. We "look for Him" with a perspective that acknowledges the challenge we all have in seeing. Even more, we embrace the blessed privilege our Lord has given to affirm by faith that He is, He is present, and He is vibrantly active in the world and in our hearts. Appearances may belie the truth. They must not, however, alter in the least the authoritative perspective that determines to see God's authoritative and active presence.
"He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
(Hebrews 11:6)
Weekly Memory Verse
But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:19)
