Orange Moon Friday, September 12, 2025 "The Explainer"

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe…

"The Explainer"

    God loves to explain Himself.

"Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3).

As an infinite, eternal being, of course, our Lord cannot begin to tell us everything about His character, nature, way, and purpose.  Even eternity will not fully exhaust His self-revelation to our hearts and minds.  Moreover, we presently "see through a glass darkly" (I Corinthians 13:12).   We can, however, always know some of God and His truth.  We can also know more as He delights and responds to our seeking inquiry.   "Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:11).

Let us consider the "some" and the "more."  The great Explainer ever awaits our calling to Him for clearer and brighter light.  He has authored a Bible filled with illumination and given its Author, the Holy Spirit, to come with the Book.  "Thy Word is a lamp… When He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth" (Psalm 119:105; John 16:13).  Thus, the some that we know can always become the more.  A new truth may greet us as we seek God's light.  Or a ray of light light already known may shine more brightly, bestowing greater insight and understanding.  Whatever the case, no believer knows anything yet as he ought to know (I Corinthians 8:2).  The Holy Spirit therefore beckons us every day to the Word He inspired and the explanations He offers.  He also greets us along the paths of providence, that Scripture may become the guiding and enabling light of our existence.  We remember promises long known, avail ourselves of assurances just discovered, and seek to more and more faithfully obey commands mandated and empowered by the Spirit of God.  His explanations not only result in better understanding, but in growing application.  "O send out Thy light and Thy truth: let them lead me" (Psalm 43:3).

We must perceive our God in these terms as the One who rejoices in explaining Himself, and who delights in teaching us His truth.  We may not be be best students.  The Holy Spirit, however, serves as the most brilliant and illuminating of teachers.  Approaching His Book in recognition of the glorious theme He inspired - the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ - leads us to truth our hearts so desperately require, and which He so delights to explain.  The learning is progressive, ongoing, and we never graduate from the spiritual education devoted to an infinite Christ, and to truth that forever beckons us with the promise of some and more.  Class is in today, as it will be forever in the presence of the One who rejoices to explain.  May we rejoice to read, listen, learn, and expect that…

"The path of the just is as the shining light, which shineth more and more unto the perfect day."

(Proverbs 4:18)

Weekly Memory Verse
