Orange Moon Cafe "Liabilities? Assets!”

The Special of the Day… From the Orange Moon Cafe...

  "Liabilities?  Assets!"

In God's economy, liabilities often serve as assets.

"My strength is made perfect in weakness" (II Corinthians 12:9).

What if that problem, or some difficulty, need, disappointment or loss actually bears potential through our Lord's presence and involvement to become the basis for His grace to be revealed in ways that cannot exist apart from challenge?  Our very salvation rests on God's capability to reverse the ledger, as it were, moving debits to the credit column.

"Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2).

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit" (I Peter 3:18).

The horror of the cross became the pathway to glory for the Lord Jesus Christ.  It also provides eternal salvation to all who receive the asset made possible by the liability.  Our faith began this way and we must expect countless opportunities in our lives to see the holy process repeated.  The aforementioned challenges are what they are.  They trouble, bewilder, threaten, and hurt us.  However, the same Spirit who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead dwells with and within us to bring light out of darkness and life from death.   As we trust and submit to Him in our difficulties, we may sometimes open the ledger of our lives to find liabilities simply erased.  However, we may also find many of them moved into the assets categories as God in His grace reveals the same power that moved the Lord Jesus from the cross to the throne.

"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

(II Corinthians 12:10)
